How Digizine Kids handles your family’s information
Our privacy promise
Digizine Kids is built for children to read, learn, imagine, and make things. We do not show ads to children. We do not sell personal data. We do not build advertising profiles of children. We collect only what we need to provide the service, keep accounts secure, process parent-approved purchases, and help parents manage their child’s reading experience. Digizine Kids is a service operated by Edukle LLC (“Edukle,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information in connection with the Digizine Kids website, apps, and services (collectively, “Digizine Kids” or the “Service”).
Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to Digizine Kids Weekly, Creator Reads, our website, the parent dashboard, the child reading experience, emails to parents, and related services operated by Edukle LLC. Digizine Kids is designed for children, with accounts created and controlled by a parent or legal guardian.
The age standard we apply
Privacy laws define “child” differently by country — for example, under 13 in the United States and under 18 in India. To keep this simple and protective, Digizine Kids applies one rule everywhere: we treat every user under 18 as a child and apply our strongest protections.
Parent account and child profile
A parent or legal guardian creates and controls the account. A child profile may use a first name or nickname and an age band so we can show age-appropriate content. Children cannot buy or spend credits, change privacy settings, make purchases, or contact authors directly. Parents can access privacy controls from Account > Settings > Privacy & Data.

Information we deliberately do not collect or use
No advertising or retargeting cookies on child surfaces. No third-party analytics, session replay, or social pixels in the child reading experience. No sale of personal data. No public child profiles. No direct child-to-author messaging. No precise location, biometric, voice, or photo collection from children unless a future feature is separately reviewed, disclosed, and parent-approved.
How we use information
To provide Digizine Kids Weekly and Creator Reads. To manage subscriptions, credits, parent-approved purchases, refunds, and receipts. To personalize only within the Digizine Kids service, such as age-appropriate story suggestions. To calculate creator payouts based on qualified reads, without exposing child identity to creators. To detect fraud, protect accounts, and maintain security. To respond to parent requests for access, correction, deletion, or support.
Parental consent and control
We obtain verifiable parental consent before we activate a child profile or process a child’s personal information. The method depends on where you live: India: we verify a parent’s identity and the parent–child relationship using an approved method such as a DigiLocker-based check, as required by the DPDP Rules. EU/EEA and UK: we use a verification method proportionate to the risk, consistent with the GDPR and the UK Children’s Code. United States: we use an FTC-recognised verifiable parental consent method under COPPA. We keep a record of each consent — who gave it, when, by which method, and which policy version applied — and we ask again if our practices materially change. You can withdraw consent at any time from Account > Settings > Privacy & Data; withdrawal takes effect immediately. You can also review, correct, download, or delete child profile information there, or by contacting [Privacy Email].
Creator Reads and author payouts
Creator Reads lets families unlock approved stories using parent-purchased credits. A “qualified read” means a story was unlocked by a parent and opened and read to a meaningful point, measured with non-identifying event counts only. We never share a child’s name, contact details, profile, or reading history with a creator. Creators receive aggregate payout figures, not information about individual children. We monitor for artificial inflation of read events and may withhold payouts for manipulation.
Cookies and storage
On child-facing surfaces, Digizine Kids uses only strictly necessary first-party cookies and storage required for login, security, language preference, service routing, and consent state. Optional analytics are not used on child-facing surfaces. Public marketing pages may use limited consent-based cookies as described in the Cookie Policy.
When we share information
We share information only with service providers that help us operate Digizine Kids, such as hosting, payment processing, email delivery to parents, security, and customer support. Service providers must use the data only for Digizine Kids instructions and may not use child data for advertising, profiling, AI training, or secondary purposes. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect safety, or in connection with a business transfer subject to appropriate protections.
International data transfers
Digizine Kids is operated from Boston, United States and uses service providers that may process data in other countries. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we use safeguards required by applicable law, such as standard contractual clauses, and we require the same child-data protections regardless of location.
How long we keep information
Parent account data is kept while the account is active. Child profile and activity data are deleted or anonymized within 30 days after account closure, unless law requires retention. Payment records may be retained as required for accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, or legal reasons. Inactive accounts may be deleted after 24 months of no sign-in, after notice to the parent.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, logging, least-privilege staff access, vendor review, and incident-response procedures.
Breach notification
If a personal-data breach affects your family, we will notify you and the relevant regulator without undue delay and, where the law requires it, within 72 hours of becoming aware. We maintain an incident log and a documented response procedure.
Your choices and rights
Access: request a copy of child and parent account data. Correction: fix inaccurate account or child profile information. Deletion: delete a child profile or close the account. Withdrawal: withdraw optional consents, where applicable. Objection or restriction: ask us to limit certain processing, where applicable by law. We verify that a request comes from the account-holding parent before acting, and we respond within the timeframe your country’s law requires.
International privacy rights
Digizine Kids aims to apply strong protections globally. Depending on location, families may have additional rights under laws such as COPPA in the United States, the GDPR and ePrivacy in the EU/EEA, the UK GDPR and Children’s Code in the United Kingdom, and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection framework. We will honor applicable rights and consent requirements.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to how we handle your family’s information, we will notify the parent by email and in the parent dashboard before the change takes effect and, where the law requires, ask for fresh consent. We keep previous versions available on request.
